¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup sugar
¾ cup butter, softened
¼ cup solid shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
½ cup each dark chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts (opt.)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream the sugars, butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. In another bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix the dry ingredients with the creamed mixture until combined. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using). Spread into a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and set. Cool and cut into bars
